David to run The Comrades Marathon 30 May 2010

David NichollsDavid Nicholls, who ran the Antarctic Marathon in aid of the Trust eighteen months ago, is planning to run the Comrades Marathon in May - 56 miles from Pietermaritzburg to Durban in South Africa, and more than double the usual length for a marathon. He's hoping to raise about £1000 for the ZST specifically to support two orphans programmes, one at St Francis Hospital, Katete, the other at Mpunde Mission, near Kabwe. Like Louise, David has a JustGiving page to make sponsorship as easy as possible. And if you're interested, find out more about the Comrades Marathon, first run in 1921 to honour the fallen of the First World War.

Louise's Brighton Marathon 18 April 2010

Photo of Louise WoottonLouise Wootton, who was born in Luanshya and spent her early childhood there, is raising funds for the Zambia Society Trust by running her very first marathon. On 18 April she completed the Brighton Marathon in 4hr 1 min. As a physiotherapist, Louise says she chose to support the Trust because she was particularly impressed by its health care and disability projects. She's already beaten her £400 target, but if you'd like to congratulate her on this fantastic achievement in the best way possible, please go to her page on the JustGiving website, where you can make a secure donation (and JustGiving will even collect the Gift Aid if you're a UK taxpayer).
